On Darkness, The Cold and Cumulative Fatigue.

I am fueled by passion, coffee, stress and stimulant medication , in no particular order.

When the weather is beautiful and life is easy this yields exemplary results.

When it is dark before lunch, colder than Munich ’97, and I’ve been working non-stop under the same conditions for weeks the old winter dread starts to crawl up my spine and all of a sudden, writing, drawing and “engineering” crap starts to occupy the riding portions of my mind.

It’s been real busy around here the last couple of weeks. We’ve been hammering away at all sorts of projects (sometimes literally).

We started moving into a new shop in Easthampton, Massachusetts (center of the universe). It’s a great big post-industrial mill building. Our immediate neighbors include screenprinters, a chimney sweep, GreaseCar, a dojo, a professional juggler, tons of artists and graphic designers and people who design custom packaging, among many, many other things.

On the nod…

We’ve all been pretty hopped up on cyclocross and coffee around here lately.

Lots of hemming and hawing about things like “plating, coating and polishing”, Dickies V. Redcap and grind coarseness for french press usage too. Vigorous debate is healthy.
Jamie managed to crash on the first lap in Northampton on Sunday and I think it may have actually improved his spelling. jimbo.jpg I made him wear protective head gear for the rest of the day to avoid any further trauma.

This Could Happen Anywhere

I remember doing a tune up on this bike a few years ago…

I think many people would have appeciated if this fella wasn’t in the middle of the course at the CSI.

I look at it as one of the great things about this valley of ours. Burnt out rastas in short-shorts and timberland boots jamming out to their walkman and throwing ‘bows in the last laps of the local UCI Cat. 2 ‘cross. That is the American dream writ large.   I tried to find him after he was shooed off of the course by apporpiately nervous officials.   You know he must be riding that thing down to the Bad Brains show.

Good morning everyone! Today we were blessed with some very cool, old stock of stickers and tons of other old school spooky stuff that Kevin was so kind to give us. Our “office” is now littered with tons of bikes and now stickers, a 5yr olds wet dream come true. I took sometime from organizing stickers with Mickey to get all artistic. I’m the child of two artist, one of which is a photographer, bound to pick some of it up eventually.

So sometimes you come home and see that things are just slightly different. It doesn’t always hit you right away, but once you see it, it’s one of those moments were you’re not quite sure exactly what is happening. You stand there and merely

we are going to die
